2010-2011
Dear Students and Families, Welcome to 7th/8th Grade Language Arts! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know each of you better, and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive school year. It is my greatest desire that we partner to ensure your success. Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include: Reading and Writing. Students are asked to bring the following supplies to school. See Dunne Middle School Supply List. My homework policy is that all homework assignments are to be turned in on the assigned date. If you are absent from school, you will be allowed to make up the assignment without any points being deducted. I simply asked you upon your return to submit a note written and signed by your parent(s). The Grading Policy is as follows: A – 100- 93 Substantially exceeding the standard. B – 92- 86 Exceeding the standard. C – 85- 79 Meeting the standard. D – 78- 70 Less than acceptable performance on the standard. F – 69- 0 Does not meet the standard. / - Indicates an area not to be graded at this time. There are a number of classroom events planned for the year. All events will be posted on my Dunne Tech web page. You will be made aware of all upcoming school events in a timely manner so as to allow you to mark your calendars. You will receive official notification on Dunne School letterhead. Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible. If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at JMKeys@cps.edu or 773-535-5518. Once again, welcome to 7th/ 8th Language Arts. Let’s work together to make this the best year ever! Sincerely, Jasmine Jefferson Dunne Technology Academy " I touch the future. I teach."
