Ms Michelle Cherie Bryson
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Let me begin with sending my sincere thanks for having your awesome children ready for the 2010-2011 school year. My name is Ms. M. Bryson. I will be your child’s teacher for this upcoming school year. This is an exciting year for your child because he or she is moving into the beginning or middle of their intermediate period for middle school. I am aware this is a big step and transition for your child. However, I believe with teamwork we all can help this year become very rewarding and rich with knowledge. I believe with a team effort your child will become rich by the deposits made everyday by each one of us. We can accomplish this task through cooperation and team playing. Team playing will lead us into developing a successful and well-rounded child together.

I would like to inform you of the class rules and consequences. This gives you an opportunity to cover them with your child throughout the school year. These class rules with consequences are the foundation of an orderly classroom.

Class                                                        Rules Consequences
1. Raise your hand to be recognized.           1. Verbal warning
2. Remain in your seat.                               2. Loss of privileges
3. No teasing or name calling.                      3. Student/teacher conference
4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 4. Call parent/note sent home
5. Follow teacher’s directions at all times.     5. Sent to the principal

However, there will be incentives given to students for being in uniform at the end of the month consistently, making 100% on test, attendance and making different academic strides throughout the school year.

Your child will receive homework Monday thru Friday and they will be expected to complete homework assignments in their entirety. Homework is vital because it helps your child’s grade point average. Also, it allows me to assess their strengths and weaknesses in different academic subjects. Students have been given assignment books. Each child is required to copy assignments off the homework board everyday. They will also write down any upcoming events, test, and materials needed throughout the school year. Please make sure you sign the book daily it keeps you aware of what is being taught in my classroom and gives you an opportunity to participate in your child’s learning.

Please make sure that your child is wearing the school uniform. The school uniform policy requires students to be in uniform five days a week unless instructed by our administration.

Also, if your child is absent a note should accompany him or her when she comes back to school. Also, if your child is taking medication the school needs to be informed especially if he or she has to take it during school hours. A doctor’s statement will be required. Please call the school (773-535-5517) if you have any further questions regarding this subject.

The methods in which you will know your child’s progress will be done in the form of progress reports, remediation documents and report cards. The progress report is completed every five weeks.  Every tenth week, a report card will be completed for your child. However, if your child seems to have difficulty with any subject or not completing homework I will have a parent conference via telephone or in person if necessary prior to the five or tenth week periods.

Finally, I have listed the supplies that your child will need for school year. Please feel free to contact me at school (773) 535-5517 if you have any questions or concerns. I will be available between 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. and after 2:45 p.m. for about one to two hours. I look forward to working with you throughout the school year!

                                                                                 Sincerely,
                                                                                 Ms. M. Bryson
